Welcome

I have a tremendous fascination for running and all it encompasses from just starting out to what it takes to run a marathon. I love to see how the body responds to, and grows stronger through proper training methods and good nutrition.

All runners need to measure their progress and need to gather knowledge in how our bodies react to certain training methods and nutrition. Runners, like myself can and do spend hours reading and researching. I have spent enough time in gathering knowledge that I at last wanted one place I could go that would incorporate all that I have learned as well as invite others to pool their resources with mine.

Hence www.runningtheroad.com

Why? Well, because if a runner is not careful to have the knowledge of correct training and nutrition, results can be slow, discouraging, and disastrous to say the least. If you have been sedentary for awhile please see your doctor before beginning any fitness program, then get all the advice you can from people who have a lot of running experience.

Results - good results - can come quickly in the beginning but as fitness improves, results begin to come slower and improved fitness can be harder to gain but obtainable. The key is to know what to do and when to do it and be consistent.

Gaining knowledge, obtaining well-researched opinions and hearing from a large community of runners is what I want this website to be about. The results will be that you may gain an association with fellow runners; runners who are novice to experienced and willing to share and comment on ways to train smart and reach fitness goals through proven training methods and proper nutrition. The site is continually evolving into and will continue to evolve into a one-stop resource for runners in all stages, from the beginner to the seasoned athlete.

I'm constantly researching old and new training methods. The training methods that I obtain, I implement into my own training to test what works best for me. I want to share what I've learned but, I don't want what I have to share to be one sided, or the only content of Running the Road. I want to have input from other runners of all levels who are ready and willing to share their knowledge and secrets in training and nutrition whether it be through e-mail directly to me al@runningtheroad.com or through the runner's forum, www.runningtheroad.com/forum. Please take note that any email I receive and feel is worthy of sharing I will publish on this Website. If you wish to remain anonymous, be sure to let me know. Please note as well that your opinions do not have to agree with mine. That is the heart of this website - the opinions of all runners matter. The knowledge of one is good; the knowledge of many is powerful.

I would also love to have input from running coaches and elite runners whom I know would have a wealth of knowledge that would be absolutely essential for all of us who are hungry for more knowledge regarding the sport, whether it be nutrition, fitness, track, cross country, distance, ultra distance or whatever encompasses the wonderful world of running.
