Glad to hear the injury is improving!
I've given up on facebook - just too big a distraction and I don't have the time so if you get a chance tell Eric I said happy birthday!

You did great!
I saw that at the half way mark your time was 2:15, I thought then that you could still make B goal with a second wind but then when I saw your finish time I was a complete wreck. I wondered where in Chicago you might be with an old injury giving you fits. I was half relieved to read about your heel and ankle - Sick I know, Oh good it is another injury not his old one!
You finished - Chicago didn't beat you. I'm very proud of you.

The big news is that you were able to finish under those conditions. I started gasping when reading the descriptions of the heat. I can't do heat - I feel like I'm smothering when I read about heat.
Let's start praying now that the Windy City, is nice and windy in October

Okay, you've actually put it in writing -qualify for Boston.

You know, I thought I would be all nerves but I'm not. Actually, I feel pretty good I'm glad that you have committed, I think it is all in the committment and not in the outcome but of course I'm hoping for the best.

Well...we still do not have Americans that can out run a Kenyan or Ethiopian.
Here comes that tired and worn out saying..."there is always next year." :(

Hi Sandy,
Yes, I'm very calm but, that will all change on race day. I usually have some race day nervous especially for the marathon but, the excitement of it all far out weighs the nerves.
I find myself worrying over the weather more than anything else and that of course is the one thing I can't do anything about. I find it hard to sleep the night before so I'm always up very early and anxious to get there. Once there, being in the crowd and around all the excitement helps with the race day nerves. I'm always very excited and pumped just prior to the start which makes it a little hard to reign in the pace as you never want to start out too fast.
All that excitement changes at around mile 20 though because that is when the fatigue really starts to set in and by then you are just wanting to get it over with and I always find myself questioning myself if I really want to do any more marathons or even finish the one I have started. That last 6 miles is the real test of your endurance and willpower to hang in there.
As soon as I get across the finish line that feeling of great accomplishment takes over and I quickly forget about the doubts I had during the last 6 miles and begin with the recovery process to get my body ready to train and run yet another marathon.

Actually, now I'm a wreck!
I'll be glad when the thing is over! I actually can't believe how I'm feeling. For the past four months, I've become a real fan and now I'm really jumpy.
Are you staying calm? Should you? I mean is it better on race day to be nervous?
